Your pet is closely monitored to ensure their safety during anesthetic procedures. A veterinary technician will monitor your pet’s heart rhythm and oxygen level using an electrocardiogram and pulse oximeter during any anesthetic event. We will evaluate the color of the mucous membranes, ocular reflexes, respiratory rate, and heart rate with a stethoscope. This combination allows us to gauge the depth of anesthesia and the patient’s status.
After completion of the procedure, your pet will be moved into a recovery area where we can ensure they wake up safely and can be monitored until they are ready to return home.
Please feel free to ask us about our patient monitoring protocol or any concerns you might have about your pet’s procedure. We would be happy to discuss these matters in more detail.
